Note of intent
Download the bookletA journey through the life and universe of a genius of Romanticism.
Through this cycle, the Adastra Quartet invites you to explore the rich lives of Felix Mendelssohn and his sister, between dazzling youth, brotherly love, and intimate dramas, each page revealing the depth of an extraordinary destiny.
The first stage plunges us into the vital energy of his first two quartets, bursts of youthfulness combining passion, lyricism, and creative freshness.
The odyssey continues with Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn, too often overlooked, whose strikingly intense quartet mirrors the tragic Quartet Op. 80 by her brother Felix: a cry of pain at the loss of his sister, on the eve of his own death.
A deeply moving journey, combining intimacy, lyricism, and humanity, which reveals the burning relevance of the voices of the past and present.
